Do you know what's the true meaning of Christmas? Now let me get this right of the bat (correct me if I'm wrong), I love to give and get gifts and I love the lights and the Christmas music. But I think something huge is lost if we don't take time to reflect on the true meaning of the season and teach it to others especially the kids.

Some kids grow up to think that Santa Claus is the hero of Christmas. He is a fun, mythical figure representing love and giving. That’s ok. But he is not what Christmas is all about.

When I was young my Mom told me that Christmas is the birth of Jesus. I always ask her who is Jesus? how old is he now? why does everybody celebrates his birthday? well because I'm just a little innocent kid that time, I couldn't understand what my mom is explaining.. So today, I'm here to find the answers..

We can trace the tradition of gift giving during Christmas on the first Christmas itself, where the three kings offered gifts to Jesus Christ. So if we try to look at it, somehow, it serves as a symbolism. I really see nothing wrong about it. Actually it’s a good thing because we learn how to share our blessings to others. But let’s not put in our mind that Christmas is just about gift giving. Happiness cannot always be obtained through material things. Most of the time, it would be the presence of our family, relatives, friends, etc.

I believe that the true meaning of Christmas is different for everyone. For some it means spending the Christmas season with family and friends, remembering the birth of Christ, reliving old traditions, or giving service to those in need. But of course, for me the true meaning of CHRISTmas is Christ.
